My word of the year for 2019 has been LEARN and I think this qualifies as Living My Truth this week as I have been attempting to learn how to create a better quality video in iMovie. (Checkout some of our other videos on our YouTube Channel and follow us on YouTube @crazyfarmliving as we keep adding more videos from the farm.)
I have been playing around with the iMovie app on my phone and trying to figure out how the settings work. (Guess I should have looked at this app ALOT sooner! LoL)
It really is cool to use. You can import the video, cut it up and remove parts that you don’t like and add a title to your video too. (And yes…I realize that I am late to the party on this and that the app has been out for awhile now! Just never had a need for it before.)
Anyways, I was practicing on this sheep video to see if I could edit and add music, but still leave the sheep noises in place. Amazingly the adjustments I made worked! #HappyDance
Here’s the finished video. And yes…it’s cheesy….and I LOVE IT! 🙂
You don’t know just how excited I am about this!! I feel like I conquered a HUGE hurdle today.
(It’s the little things that bring me JOY.)
In case you’re wondering… here’s how I edited the sound:
(This is assuming that you’ve already imported your video into iMovie)
- Click on your movie image and then the wheel will appear in the lower right hand corner
- Select the Theme Music that you want to have playing in the background and then Done (I picked Playful for this video. Seemed appropriate….)
- Next, click on your video in the lower half of the screen, the timeline viewer. (it gets highlighted with a yellow box and the edit icons show up in the bottom left corner)
- Select the audio icon (it looks like a speaker)
- Adjust the sound bar to 100%
- Click the green bar below your timeline view – this is the music that you selected (i.e.: Playful) and then click the audio icon for this song. I adjusted this down to 65% because I still wanted to hear the sheep in the video and only have the Playful music in the background.
Select Done and continue with any other edits.
The hard part was remembering to have the sound at 100% and then adjust down. The first few times I started with the volume level at 50% and went up or down from there (not a good idea). When I listened to the finished product I couldn’t hear anything at 50%, so I had to start at 100% and go down.
For those of us ‘non-technical’ people in the world, this came out pretty good in my book. I’m taking it as a WIN for today.
